
When people talk about Las Vegas, what they are actually referring to is the Las Vegas Strip which is home to some of the largest and most glamourous hotels, casinos and resort properties in the world. .Actually only four miles in length, The Strip runs from the Stratosphere Hotel at the northern end to the Mandalay Bay Hotel on the southern end. McCarran Airport is located at the southern end of The Strip, along with the well known “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign which is situated in the median of Las Vegas Boulevard at the north end adjacent to the interesection of East St. Louis and South Main Street.

Located in northern Nevada’s Washoe County, Reno is the second of Nevada’s two largest cities, Las Vegas in the southern portion of the state being the largest. In the early 1930s and prior to the explosive development of Las Vegas, Nevada’s liberal laws allowed Reno to claim itself as the nation’s gambling and divorce capital. Of course, that is now all in the past. Although nearly eclipsed in recognition by the flash and glitter of Las Vegas, Reno remains a vital city with a relatively healthy economy.
