LAS VEGAS STRIP, Nevada

LAS VEGAS STRIP, Nevada.jpgWhen people talk about Las Vegas, what they are actually referring to is the Las Vegas Strip which is home to some of the largest and most glamourous hotels, casinos and resort properties in the world. .Actually only four miles in length, The Strip runs from the Stratosphere Hotel at the northern end to the Mandalay Bay Hotel on the southern end. McCarran Airport is located at the southern end of The Strip, along with the well known “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign which is situated in the median of Las Vegas Boulevard at the north end adjacent to the interesection of East St. Louis and South Main Street.

One of the newest and most magnificent hotels on The Strip is The Wynn – built by and named for the owner, Steve Wynn, one of the most well-known movers and shakers in the city of Las Vegas. This resort hotel in the only one in the world to have the Mobil 5 Star and AAA 5 Diamond rating. The ambiance – both inside and outside the hotel – must be seen to be believed! In the front courtyard, there is a mountain (manmade, of course) replete with trees. There are also lagoons, waterfalls and terraced landscapes while the hotel lobby is filled with a profusion of gorgeous flowering plants.

The upscale restaurants are presided over by internationally celebrated chefs, including
Alessandro Stratta, Daniel Boulud, David Walzog, Rene Lenger, Masa Ishizawa, Philippe Rispoli, Richard Chen, Paul Bartolotta, Mark LoRusso, Stephen Kalt and Hisham Johari.

The ancient Romans would be pleased with the luxury of Caesar’s Palace offering 3,348 rooms in five towers: Roman, Centurion, Forum, Palace and Augustus.  The Forum Shops are a themed mall inside the hotel boasting more than 160 restaurants and designer retail stores between the casino and the pool. At the west end of the mall is the free Festival Fountain show featuring a discussion between lifelike statues of Bacchus, Venus, Apollo and Pluto as well as a free laser light show.

Caesar’s Palace has hosted some of the world’s most popular entertainers such as Elton John and Celine Dion and plans to feature Bette Midler in 2008 are in the works.
Located in The Forum Shops is a display of Exotic Cars of more than 40 rare and unusual vehicles with prices more than $1 million. Some vehicles previously housed at Exotic Cars have included the 2005 Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster, the 2003 Saleen S7, the Ferrari 512 TR and the Porsche Indy Car.

Another Strip hotel worth seeing is the Venetian. This world class hotel with an Italian theme transports you to an atmosphere of sophistication and refinement. The Grand Canal Shoppes offer a delightful and elegant shopping experience. Visitors may stroll along a cobblestone walkway or choose to take a relaxing ride in an authentic Italian gondola in the charming canal winding through the resort hotel. Free entertainment is provided at various times throughout the day, seven days a week as the Venetian Living Statues serenade shoppers in St. Marks Square.

These are only three of the myriad hotel resorts on the Las Vegas Strip. Some of the others worth seeing, each with their own unique theme, are the Bellagio, Paris, MGM Grand, the Tropicana, Luxor, Excalibur and Bally’s.
