The mission of the Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park, Las Vegas, Nevada is to “educate and entertain the public by displaying a variety of plants and animals”.  But the Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park takes it a little further than that.  By educating the public, the zoo believes that this must start with the children.  They have extensive resources for teachers who will be bringing their classes to the zoo on field trips, or who wants some educational resources for the classroom. 

Some of the interesting animals you will see at the Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park are exotic and venomous reptiles, talking parrots, eagles, wallabies, chimpanzees, endangered cats, and Barbary Apes.  In fact, the Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park houses the last Barbary Ape family remaining in the United States.  You will also see gem exhibits sponsored by the Las Vegas Gem Club as well as displays of plant life to include endangered species like red bamboos and cycads.

The Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park, Las Vegas, Nevada is not a large zoo in comparison to some others around the country, but the size of the zoo does not denote the size of the hearts of the people who run and work at the zoo.  The smaller size of the Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park also allows zookeepers to spend more time with the animals and more time with the public who comes to learn about the animals.  When in Las Vegas, Nevada don’t miss the Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park.
