Take a tour of a mine; go underground at the Tonopah Historic Mining Park.  Silver was found in Tonopah in 1900  starting a rush to the area, making it Queen of the Silver Camps.

The park encompasses portions of four of the major mining companies and covers over 100 acres.  There are displays of the mining equipment, exhibits and a self-guided tour.  The buildings on the property are open for visitors to enjoy and discover what it was like to live in the environment of a mining community in the early 1900’s.

The underground tunnel is now ready for visitors.  It features a walk down a mine tunnel that intersects one of the original discovery stopes.  At the end of the tunnel, you will be able to step into a steel viewing cage and look down the 500’ deep stope.  Newly completed projects include the restoration of the Mizpah Mine collar.  You can now walk across the top of the richest mine in the Tonopah District and look down the shaft.
